By India Today Web Desk: Rishabh Pant, on Friday, February 10, posted a few pictures on his Twitter handle where he can be seen walking on crutches. Last month, the left-handed Pant suffered a car accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway after which he suffered multiple injuries.

Pant is currently in a process of recovery and is expected to be out of action for quite some time. Pant is yet to play cricket in 2023, but sounded determined to make a comeback.

Pant captioned the pictures and wrote, “One step forward, one step stronger, One step better.”

Pant’s injury recently opened the doors for KS Bharat, who made his debut in the opening Test against Australia which got underway on Thursday, February 10 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association in Nagpur.

Pant was India’s standout batter in Test cricket last year and was their leading run-scorer. Last year, the left-handed batter racked up 680 runs from seven Tests at an average of 61.81 with two centuries against England and South Africa to show for his efforts.

Pant also scored his maiden ODI hundred last year after he notched an unbeaten 125 against Jos Buttler’s England at the Old Trafford in Manchester.

However, Pant’s position in the T20I team remains questionable. Pant was expected to lead the Delhi Capitals in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), but it’s unlikely that he would be able to recover.

It now remains to be seen if the 25-year-old Pant can get fit for the 50-over World Cup to be played in October and November. With 6 hundreds and 11 fifties to his name, Pant is among the most successful wicketkeeper-batters India have ever produced.
