By India Today Web Desk: Cristiano Ronaldo has broken his silence after scoring his 500th league goal on Thursday after hitting four past Al Wehda for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr in December after his contract with Manchester United was terminated, struggled to get off the mark in his new home at first.
The 38-year-old did score a brace for Riyadh XI in a 5-4 friendly loss to PSG but was yet to get off the mark for Al Nassr. He finally broke his duck in the team’s previous league game against Al Fateh. The match ended in a 2-2 draw with Ronaldo scoring the equalizer that salvaged the draw for his team in the end.
On Thursday, however, the Portuguese superstar decided to roll back the years and slammed four past Al Wehda. Ronaldo started proceeding in the 21st minute of the game before making it 2-0 19 minutes later.
Ronaldo completed his hat-trick with a penalty in the 53rd minute of the game. He then went on to finish off things with a strike eight minutes later to make it a fine night for the Al Nassr fans.
Ronaldo would go past the 500-mark in terms of league goals with his effort on Thursday. The 38-year-old has now scored 503 league goals for five clubs in five different top-flight leagues.
The Portuguese superstar scored 103 goals for Manchester United, 311 for Real Madrid, 81 for Juventus, three for Sporting Lisbon. Now, he has five for Al Nassr as well.
Ronaldo took to Instagram and said he felt great after his exploits on Thursday and reaching the new landmark.
“Great feeling to have scored 4 goals and reaching my 500th league goal in a very solid win by the team!” said Ronaldo.
Al Nassr continue their run at the top of the table with the win on Thursday.
