By India Today Web Desk: Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has heaped praise on India captain Rohit Sharma’s knock against Australia in Nagpur, calling it flawless. The India skipper scored his ninth Test century to guide India to a 144-run lead at the end of Day 2 of the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar series.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, Harbhajan said Rohit was flawless at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur and played an incredible innings.

“The boundary that he hit over the cover to get his hundred was an outstanding shot. There are rare players who play with a free mindset, especially when you are batting from 90s to 100s and slow their pace. But Rohit Sharma was flawless and played an incredible innings,” said Harbhajan.

The former cricketer said Rohit played a very calculative innings, adding that he knew were the ball was spinning and read the spinners well.

“It was a very calculative innings. Stepped out well against the spinner, executed the sweeps well and with keen concentration he played his shots. He kind of knew how the ball was spinning and negotiated well against the spin (bowling),” Harbhajan added.

The 42-year-old said the importance of Rohit’s innings will be felt on Day 3 as India could run away with the match.

“I think the match is set and tomorrow we will get to know the importance of Rohit Sharma’s innings. Because tomorrow the match will almost be over,” said Harbhajan.

Rohit Sharma’s 9th hundred and gutsy fifties from Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel kept India ahead in a tense battle for supremacy in the first Test of a four-match series against Australia. India finished Day 2 with a lead of 144 runs over Australia at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur.

Jadeja remained unbeaten on 66 and Axar unbeaten on 52 as India reached Stumps at 321 for 7.
