By India Today Web Desk: Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Pretoria Capitals are set to lock horns in the final of the inaugural edition of the SA20 2023.
The Capitals, led by Wayne Parnell, topped the points table with 31 points and a net run rate of +0.927. They defeated David Miller’s Paarl Royals in the semi-final on February 8 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
Will Jacks is currently the leading run-scorer for them, having racked up 270 runs from seven games at an average of 38.57 and a strike-rate of 201.49 with three half-centuries and a top score of 92 to his name.
Anrich Nortje is their leading wicket-taker as the fast bowler has accounted for 18 scalps from 10 games at an economy rate of 6.28. He is also the top wicket-taker of the tournament.
The Sunrisers, led by Aiden Markram, somehow made it through to the semis after garnering 19 points from 10 games at a net run rate of +0.316. They put their best foot forward in the semis after beating Faf du Plessis’ Joburg Super Kings.
Skipper Markram scored a hundred for them in the semis and is also their top-run getter. The right-handed batter has scored 340 runs in 11 games at an average and strike-rate of 34 and 127.34 respectively.
Left-arm spinner Roelof van der Merwe is their highest wicket-taker with 16 scalps from nine matches at an economy rate of 5.33.
