By India Today Web Desk: Suryakumar Yadav’s patience was finally rewarded on Thursday as the 32-year-old was handed his Test debut in Nagpur in Day one of the first test between India and Australia.
Yadav, who has been a stalwart for India in T20Is during 2022, became the 304th Indian to play the longest format of the game in the history of the sport.
Shreyas Iyer’s failure to recover from a back injury opened the door for the 32-year-old to make his first appearance in all whites for India. He was able to fend off competition from Shubman Gill for a spot in the middle order in Nagpur.
