By India Today Web Desk: Ravindra Jadeja made his return to the lineup as Shubman Gill and Kuldeep were benched for the first Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The visitors, who are without the services of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Cameron Green, decided to hand a debut to Todd Murphy and also brought in Scott Boland to the lineup.
KS Bharat got the nod over Ishan Kishan for the position of wicketkeeper in the team, as he makes his Test debut alongside Suryakumar Yadav. KL Rahul will be opening the batting alongside Rohit Sharma with Cheteshwar Pujara at No.3 and Virat Kohli at No.4.
Ravindra Jadeja also makes his return from injury and he will be supported by Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel. Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami will be the pacers for India.
David Warner and Usman Khawaja are the openers for Australia, with Marnus Labuschagne coming in at No.3 and Steve Smith at No.4. The visitors decided to use Pete Handscomb instead of the in-form Travis Head.
