Ranji Trophy 2023: Mayank Agarwal, Sudip Kumar Gharami and Anustup Majumdar scored hundreds in Day 1 of their team’s semi-final matches on Wednesday

By India Today Web Desk: against Saurashtra with their score at 229 for the loss of five wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After being put in to bat first, Karnataka found themselves in trouble after being reduced to 112 for the loss of five wickets in 40.3 overs. From there on, Mayank took charge and stayed unbeaten on 110 off 246 balls with the help of 11 fours and one six.
Mayank and Srinivas Sharath put on an unbeaten partnership of 117 runs for the sixth wicket off 46.3 overs. Sharath stayed not out on 58 off 143 with the help of four fours.
Ravikumar Samarth, Devdutt Padikkal and Manish Pandey failed to get into single digits. Kushang Patel picked up two wickets for Saurashtra.
In the other semi-final, Bengal finished Day 1 with their score at 307 for the loss of four wickets against Madhya Pradesh at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. After a 51-run stand opening stand between Abhimanyu Easwaran and Karan Lal, both batters perished.
But Sudip Kumar Gharami and Anustup Majumdar put on 241 runs for the third wicket to put Bengal in a commanding position. Both yet another time, Bengal lost two wickets in quick succession.
Even as Gharami scored 112 with 12 fours and two sixes, Majumdar notched 120 runs with 13 fours and a six. Manoj Tiwary and Shahbaz Ahmed were the two overnight batters.
