By India Today Web Desk: Shahid Afridi rolled back the clock and gave glimpses of the damage he used to do with the bat in hand during his heydays. The right-handed batter gave fans plenty to cheer for during the exhibition match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators at the Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti Cricket Stadium in Quetta.

Afridi came to bat after the Zalmi lost the wicket of the Gladiators while chasing 185. The Zalmi were cruising along at 65 for one in 5.5 overs. The 42-year-old Afridi started his knock with a boundary of fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain, who was high on confidence after dismissing Babar Azam.

Thereafter, he charged down the track and smashed left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz for a four over the extra cover region. Afridi kept peppering the boundary with a superb boundary through the covers.

But soon after, Nawaz sent Afridi back after the former Pakistan all-rounder entertained the crowd with a knock of 25 runs off 17 balls. The veteran tried to dance down the track and deposit Nawaz into the stands. But he missed the ball altogether and Sarfaraz Ahmed took off the bails.

Afridi got out with Peshawar’s score at 111 for the loss of two wickets in 10.2 overs. The fans, in the meantime, were in awe of Afridi’s stroke-play and hailed him for playing some wonderful shots.

“You can’t imagine my happiness at this moment. Thank you Lala. You made my day happy by playing such a good innings,” one of the fans wrote.

“Shahid Afridi is still the greatest crowd puller, loved those chants “Boom Boom Afridi” . Lala’s stardom is surreal,” another fan wrote.
